LinkMap – Page Link Explorer (“LinkMap”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data the extension processes, how it is used, and what is not collected.
1. What LinkMap Does
LinkMap analyzes links on the web page you choose to inspect. To function properly, it may:
- Read links currently visible on the active page.
- Check HTTP status codes and redirect behavior for the discovered links.
- Display the analysis results dynamically in a secure sidebar.
- Enable you to export results as a CSV file or copy tabular data (TSV) directly to your clipboard.
2. Data We Process
When you utilize LinkMap, the extension processes the following locally:
- Link URLs found exclusively on the current page.
- Anchor text and link attributes (e.g.,
relvalues likenofolloworsponsored). - HTTP response metadata (e.g., status codes, redirect chains, final URLs, and error states).
- Temporary UI states necessary for filtering, progress tracking, and rendering the sidebar.
3. Data We Do NOT Collect or Sell
LinkMap is built with a privacy-first approach. We strictly do not:
- Create or require user accounts.
- Collect, store, or transmit personal profile information.
- Track your general web browsing history or behavior for advertising purposes.
- Sell any personal or usage data to third parties.
- Transmit analytics or telemetry data to external servers by default.
4. Storage and Retention
- Local Processing: All link analysis results are processed locally within your active browser session. Once the tab or sidebar is closed, the temporary session data is cleared.
- User-Triggered Exports: Exported files (CSV) are generated entirely on your device and only when you explicitly click the export button.
- Clipboard Access: Data is sent to your clipboard only when you actively trigger the “Copy for Sheets” action.
5. Permissions and Justifications
LinkMap requires specific browser permissions solely to deliver its core functionality:
activeTab: Used to analyze the currently active page, and only after you explicitly click the extension icon.tabs: Used to identify the currently active tab or window to ensure the sidebar opens in the correct context.scripting: Required to inject the content script necessary to render and operate the sidebar UI.Host Permissions (<all_urls>): Necessary to discover links on the pages you choose to inspect and to perform background HTTP requests to verify the health of those URLs.
6. Third-Party Network Requests
To accurately check link health, LinkMap sends network requests directly from your browser to the URLs found on the current page. Some external domains may block these requests due to Cross-Origin Resource Sharing (CORS) or other security policies. In such cases, these are explicitly flagged as errors within the LinkMap UI.
7. Security
We design our architecture to minimize data exposure by processing all analysis strictly locally within the Chrome extension runtime. However, please note that no software can guarantee absolute security across all possible local environments.
8. Children’s Privacy
LinkMap is a professional tool not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect or process personal information from children.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may periodically update this Privacy Policy to reflect product enhancements or legal requirements. If modifications are made, the “Effective Date” at the top of this document will be revised accordingly.
10. Contact Information
