WebiSticky is a Chrome browser extension that allows users to create and manage sticky notes for text selections on websites. This privacy policy explains how WebiSticky handles user data.

All notes, highlights, and settings created using WebiSticky are:

💾 Data Storage
Local Storage
- All your notes and settings are stored locally on your device using Chrome’s
chrome.storage.localAPI. - A backup copy may be stored in your browser’s
localStoragefor redundancy. - No data leaves your device.
What We Store Locally
- Text selections you choose to highlight
- Personal notes you add to highlights
- Settings and preferences (such as panel visibility)
- Timestamps for organizational purposes
⚙️ Data Usage
The extension uses your locally stored data solely to:
- Display your notes and highlights on websites
- Organize and manage your notes in the dashboard
- Export your notes when you explicitly request it
🚫 Third-Party Services
WebiSticky does NOT:
- Use analytics or tracking services
- Send data to remote servers
- Share information with third parties
- Display advertisements
- Use cookies (except those required by Chrome for local storage)
⚖️ User Rights
You have complete control over your data:
- Access: View all your notes through the dashboard
- Export: Export all your notes as JSON files
- Delete: Remove individual notes or clear all data by uninstalling the extension
- Control: All data stays on your device and syncs only through your Chrome account if Chrome Sync is enabled
☁️ Chrome Sync
If you have Chrome Sync enabled in your browser:
- Your notes may sync across your Chrome browsers signed in with the same Google account.
- This is handled entirely by Google Chrome’s sync mechanism.
- WebiSticky has no control over or access to this sync process.
🔑 Permissions Explanation
WebiSticky requests the following permissions:
- storage: To save your notes and settings locally
- activeTab: To access the current webpage where you’re creating notes
- scripting: To inject the note-taking functionality into web pages
- contextMenus: To add a context menu option for creating notes
- tabs: To open the dashboard in a new tab
These permissions are used solely for the extension’s core functionality and never for data collection.
👧 Children’s Privacy
WebiSticky does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.
